At the age of four, she was captivated by the sound of the harp and began taking harp lessons at the local music school in ‘s-Hertogenbosch.
At 13, Emilie was admitted to the Young Talent Class of the Fontys Conservatory in Tilburg under the professional guidance of Ernestine Stoop. A year and a half later, she transferred to the School for Young Talent at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from this conservatory in 2012 and her Master of Music degree in 2014.

In addition to her harp lessons with Ernestine Stoop, Emilie also studied with Edward Witsenburg. She has participated in masterclasses with Susann MacDonald (during the 12th World Harp Congress in Sydney, Australia), Jana Bouskova, Isabelle Perrin, Sirin Pancaroglu, and Catrin Finch, among others.

As a soloist, Emilie has performed in beautiful venues throughout the Netherlands (Dr. Anton Philipszaal, Rijksmuseum, Kürhaus Scheveningen, Theater aan de Parade, and Kasteel de Wittenburg) and abroad (Belgium, Germany, Sweden, Turkey, and the Czech Republic). In addition to performing as a soloist, she regularly plays in various chamber music ensembles. She is a permanent member of the harp duo DuoDyade.

Emilie is an active musician and enjoys staying informed about harp developments. In 2017, she gave a lecture at the 13th World Harp Congress in Hong Kong. This lecture focused on utilizing personal learning styles while studying music. Emilie has a very broad musical taste and enjoys experimenting with innovative musical developments with her electric Big Blue harp.
